CV Breakers Are Proud to Introduce the Following Coaching Staff
For Our Fall & Winter Maintenance 2025/26 Season

Hello! My name is Lily Heugh. I graduated from Cowichan Secondary School in 2024 and am now attending university while proudly continuing to coach with the Breakers. After six years of competitive racing, I’m thrilled to bring my passion and experience back to the pool.

Coaching swimmers of all ages and abilities has been incredibly rewarding, and I can’t wait to keep building skills, confidence, and a love for swimming in every athlete. Go Breakers!

Development & Junior Coach

Hi, I’m Lucy! I’ve been swimming for eight years and have been coaching for the Breakers for several years now. I love working with both new and returning swimmers, and I’m looking forward to helping everyone build skills, confidence, and a love for the water this season!

Development, Junior, Intermediate & Senior Coach

Wes grew up on the East Coast of the United States, where he developed a passion for competitive swimming over 17 years. He competed with top New England swim teams, including the Manchester Sunfish, Seacoast Stingrays, and Mass Bay Marlins, before swimming at the Division I level for the University of Massachusetts Amherst men’s swim team. During his four years at UMass, Wes helped lead the team to three Atlantic 10 championships, competing in sprint breaststroke as well as mid- and long-distance freestyle events.

Wes’s coaching philosophy centers on building strong fundamentals, mastering proper technique, and nurturing a lifelong love of swimming. He believes in helping swimmers of all ages get comfortable in the water, understand how their bodies move, and develop skills that can take them from recreational swimming to competitive performance.

For Wes, one of the most rewarding parts of coaching is watching young swimmers grow, gain confidence, and experience the joy of achieving new milestones in the pool. As a parent, he finds it especially inspiring to guide his own children and other young swimmers through the journey of learning, improving, and competing. Wes is thrilled to be part of the Breakers team, where he can share his experience, passion, and dedication with the next generation of swimmers.

Hey everyone! I'm Katie James, and I’m in grade 12 this year. I've been in love with swimming since I was five years old! I've had a great competitive career, winning lots of provincial medals and even breaking some big records right here in the Cowichan Valley. My favourite stroke is backstroke, and I've always been a sprinter who loves short-distance races. As my schedule got busier, I stepped away from competitive swimming to focus on volleyball and rowing, but I still love jumping in the pool whenever I get a chance! I had an amazing time coaching PreBreakers 2 over the summer, and I'm now taking on groups for PreBreakers 1 and 2. I am absolutely thrilled and overjoyed to meet all of you amazing swimmers this season, and I can't wait for another great season this fall!

PreBreakers 1 and 2 Coach

Hi, I'm Sarah and I am in my Grade 12 year.  I have been a passionate and accomplished swimmer with the Breakers Swim Club since I was 6 years old.  I have won several provincial medals and my favourite stroke is breaststroke.  I also love rowing and running.  I am looking forward to my transition into coaching and I hope to pass on my love of swimming to the younger swimmers!  I can't wait to meet you all at the pool this fall.

PreBreakers 1 Coach

Hi! My name is Yukari Stevenson, but most call me Yuki. I am a grade 12 student. I swam competitively with the breakers for most of my childhood and have always enjoyed being a part of a team. This past summer I lead private swimming lessons, and I am excited to bring those skills to this experience!

I focus on building confidence with young swimmers as I believe it’s the best way for children to improve and have fun! I find it fulfilling to see children improve over time, so I am very excited to work with the Pre-breakers this coming season.
