Natalia - Summer swim team head coach

This is Natalia's third summer coaching with the Cowichan Valley Breakers. Natalia has a very extensive background with the sport both from an athletic and professional coaching background.

Natalia began swimming at just six years old and progressed with the sport- having been a Canadian Age-Group National Finalist and a Canadian Olympic Trials participant. She then went on to swim and study in Florida on a full- athletic scholarship. During her time in Florida, she earned the title of a five-time All-American NCAA athlete.

Natalia is extremely passionate about the sport and has been coaching for over 7 years. She is looking to bring her knowledge of the sport to help guide young athletes and drive them to success.  Sandy - winter maintenance head coach

 

BOB - winter maintenance coach

Bob has been with the CV Breakers swim team since 1994, he has a passion for the sport and using his years of experience and skills to swimmers of all levels.

Bob started swim coaching in 1965 at the YM/YWCA in Windsor, Ontario. During that time he learned how to coach developmental younger swimmers and as a young coach he entered his first swim meet at the Lansberry Outdoor pool in Windsor. In 1968 thorough to 1972 he swam as a member of the Riverside High School team majoring in backstroke. In 1972 - 1974 whiled attending St. Clair College he continued swimming and coaching. He remembers these times fondly

Bob joined the Canadian Armed Forces in 1974, in his 20 years until his retirement in 1994 he was involved with the following teams; Chilliwack Spartan Swim Club, The Lahr Beaver Swim Team, CFB Baden Swim Team and as a civilian coached the Chiliwack Cultas Swing Ray Swim Team.

Bob moved to Duncan in 1994 and coached with both the Duncan Stingrays and Cowichan Valley Breakers.

You will find Bob mostly in the shallow pool with our younger developmental swimmers, he’s always happy to talk about your child’s development and abilities.

SANDY - WINTER Maintenance head coach

Sandy has been involved with Aquatics over the past 25 years, as a programmer, coach and lifeguard. Her coaching qualifications include NCCP level 2 Swimming and NCCP level 3 Theory and aboriginal coaching, National life guarding, water park life guarding, Red Cross Water Safety instructor training and High Five Instructor Training

Sandy was a head coach for the developmental Olympic Way Cascadia Swim Team for 8 years, S.A.I.T Summer swim club for 3 years and a Team Manager for Team Alberta for 2 years (Canada Summer Games 2001).

As an aquatic programmer with Lindsay Park Sports Center in Calgary Sandy was involved with the I Can Swim program, she travelled across Canada with the program for 2 years.

You will find Sandy providing support and guidance to all swimmers in our pre-breaker development groups all the way up to our senior swimmers.

sofie bloss - coach

Sofie started swimming with the Cowichan Valley Breakers when she was nine years old. At thirteen she entered our Coach in Training program and recently has started as a coach for the summer season.

Sofie graduated from Cowichan Secondary School in 2018 and attends Vancouver Island University in Nanaimo with the hopes of transferring to UVic in September for the Bachelor of Education program.

Sofie enjoys working with all swimmers and passing on the knowledge of the sport she loves.
